Domitian as Caesar. 70-81 AD. Denarius, 3.23gg. (7h). Ephesus, 71 AD. Obv: DOMITIAN[VS CAES]AR AVG F Bare-headed, cuirassed bust right, seen from front. Rx: PACI ORB - TERR AVG around, EPHE (PHE ligate) in exergue, Female bust right, draped and wearing crown of towers. RIC 1448 (R ), pl. 78 (same dies). RPC 849 (4 specimens), pl. 34 (Vienna specimen, same obv. die as ours). BM 474. Cohen 337 (Wiczay, 25 Frs.). Denarii of Domitian from this mint are rare: they occur only in this one EPHE issue, and all show this unusual cuirassed bust of the Caesar, seen from front. Mint State.
